Important Information for Albanian Employees

Salaries are typically paid monthly in Albanian Lek (ALL). While international contracts often benchmark salaries in EUR or USD, final payments must be executed in the national currency.

The standard legal work week is 40 hours, usually structured as 8 hours per day over 5 days. Employers must maintain accurate records, as any work beyond these limits is treated as overtime, capped at an average of 48 hours per week.

Employees are entitled to a minimum of 4 calendar weeks (typically 20-22 working days) of paid annual leave per year. Some sectors provide up to 30 days depending on the contract.

Female employees are entitled to 365 days of maternity leave. The first 6 months are compensated at 80% of the average net salary, while the remaining period is covered at 50%.

Fathers are entitled to 3 days of paid paternity leave at the time of birth, covered by the employer.

For an adopted child up to one year old, employees are entitled to 330 days of leave from the day of adoption.
