Important Information for Romanian Employees

Salaries are paid monthly in Romanian Leu (RON). While international firms often define salary packages in EUR, the actual payroll execution must occur in the local currency.

The standard work week is 40 hours. Employers are legally required to keep accurate records of attendance and overtime, as Romanian Labor Law provides high levels of protection for workers regarding working time.

Employees are entitled to a minimum of 20 working days of paid annual leave. Those working in difficult or dangerous conditions are entitled to an additional 3 days of leave.

Female employees are entitled to 126 calendar days (18 weeks) of maternity leave paid at 85% of their average monthly income. This is typically followed by a parental leave option of up to 2 years (or 3 years for children with disabilities).

Fathers are entitled to 5 to 10 working days of paid paternity leave, which can be extended to 15 days if the father attends a certified childcare training course.

For legal adoptions, employees are entitled to leave that can last up to 330 days after the child is born to ensure proper family bonding and integration.
